Christmas is just around the corner, and for those who celebrate the holiday, the magical day is less than two weeks away. No matter if its Christmas, or Hanukkah, or any other holiday, horses most certainly celebrate with us and participate in many holiday-activities around the globe. To get into that special holiday mood, let us discover just exactly how involved our beloved horses are in our holiday celebrations!
USA – the nation of parades
Not that it should come as a surprise to you, as USA has parades for basically everything, but Christmas and the surrounding holidays include many parades which has plenty of celebrating horses involved in them. Basically every state has their own horse parade, but one of the bigger ones is Lexington Horse Parade, in which hundreds of horses participate in the fun activities.
The white horse of Sinterklaas
In The Netherlands a white horse is the pride and glory as it carries Sinterklaas. The horse travels on the rooftops and helps Sinterklaas deliver the Christmas gifts. Not only that, but many horses can be seen on the streets of various cities in festive decorations such as Christmas hats and blankets. Children, old as young, leave carrots and other snacks for Sinterklaas’s horse, something which may put them on the nice list for the year.
Ride in a horse-drawn sleigh and discover beautiful cities
One of the most romantic and interesting ways to celebrate the holidays is to go on a horse-drawn sleigh adventure in one of the bigger cities around Europe. Paris, London, Berlin and Moscow are just some of the incredible cities which allow couples or friends and family to experience some of the most beautiful sites, accomplished by some of the most beautiful animals. With all the Christmas decorations, lights and the atmosphere, it will be a memory of a lifetime to celebrate Christmas or any of the other holidays together with one of many of the beautiful horses guiding visitors.
The Scandinavian Christmas
The Scandinavian countries are known for its beauty and during Christmas this is especially true. On the streets of Stockholm tourists can participate in many different Christmas events and markets. Horses walk the streets and it is possible to either go on a lovely tour together with a tour guide and a horse, or to just enjoy the beautiful creatures decorated with uplifting decorations. A trip through snow and beautiful landscapes in Norway could also be a memory for life, and especially during Christmas times when many arranged trips with horses can be enjoyed by tourists as well as locals. There are also many different petting zoos in which children can feed, pet and ride horses around the cold but o so beautiful snowy landscapes.
